YT5

is a tungsten–titanium–cobalt cemented carbide grade (WC + TiC + Co), commonly used for turning tools and indexable inserts.

Composition

WC (Tungsten Carbide): Base material
TiC (Titanium Carbide): approx. 5%
Co (Cobalt): approx. 6–7% (binder)

Key Features

High wear resistance, suitable for machining harder materials
Excellent anti-built-up-edge performance, reduces chip adhesion
Good hot hardness, performs well in high-speed cutting
Stable strength and toughness, ideal for roughing and semi-finishing

Recommended Materials

YT5 is especially suitable for roughing and semi-finishing of steel, such as:

Medium-carbon steel
Alloy steel
General structural steels
25#, 45# steels
Cast steel
